Bar-le-Duc

My father was stationed in Bar-le-Duc during WWII. It is a 90-minute train ride from Reims. Bar-le-Duc is divided into the lower town, containing the more modern part, and the upper town, reached by various narrow streets and steep staircases, where much of the historical interest is found. The Bar-le-Duc tour de l'horloge (clock tower) is a remaining part of what was once the town ramparts.
